Rochester, NY is a city that loves its dogs—and luckily, it’s packed with great places for pups to play! Whether your four-legged friend is looking to roam off-leash, splash in a pond, or explore scenic trails by your side, there’s no shortage of dog-friendly parks in and around the Greater Rochester area. Here’s a guide to some of the best local dog parks where tails are sure to wag!

Cobb’s Hill Dog Park

This is the first city-run dog park and offers a central hub for your dog to run around and meet new friends!  The park is open year-round from dawn to dusk, and offers stone dust surface, separate small/large dog areas, benches, shade, and water stations!

Ellison Dog Park (Ellison Park)

Ellison Park is a local favorite within Monroe County, and offers spacious grounds with a pond, an off-leash area, trails, waste bags, and water!  Split zones and scenic trails make for a great day-trip or adventure for your furry friend!

Greece Canal Dog Park

There is plenty of space for dogs large and small to run around in this one-acre fenced in dog park at Greece Canal Park!  Although there isn’t much shade, there is a water station for your dogs to refresh and stay hydrated!

Lookup Park Dog Park

The Town of Henrietta offers two separate enclosures for your dog to run around leash-free!  Highlights include shady seating, agility equipment, water, and even a splash area for small dogs!

Sweden Dog Park

With a pond play area, being full-fenced, and offering combined areas, the Sweden Dog Park on the west side of Rochester is the perfect spot for your dogs to run and play!

Pittsford Dog Park

After enjoying a nice walk on the canal with your pooch, stop by the Town of Pittsfords Dog Park for a fully-fenced area for small and large dogs, water fountains, waste stations, and doggie play structures!

Additional Tips & Reminders

Below are some additional things to keep in mind to help give your pet a paws-itively great day:

  • Most dog parks will require registration beforehand.  Be sure to check out the park’s information and website for instructions and park rules.

  • Always check hours. Many parks operate dawn to dusk or have seasonal variations.

  • Ensure your pet is licensed and vaccinated.

  • Bring water and bags for your pet.

  • Consider the size of your dog.  Smaller pups may need fenced or separate areas.
